Current Projects:

*Started* Disc Golf Course in Moffit Park (33 acre park). 2026-2027

*Started* Pothole/Street repairs- ongoing. Potholes will be patched in July/August.

*Started* Requested TXDOT repair HWY 108 through Mingus and add shoulders. (Inter local agreements signed (10/21/2024) Updated to priority 02/10/2025))

*Grant Process Started* Grant application to repair ditches and culverts for improved drainage. (CDBG application 2026/2027)

*Grant Process Started* Repairs and maintenance to our water tower. Adding an additional 100,000 Gallon elevated tank, a pump station, completing loops, additional master meters and automated flush valves. (TWDB application 2026-2030)

*Started* Automated water system flushing. (TWDB Grant 2026-2030)

*Started* Mingus Trails. A multi use trail from the new Palo Pinto Mountains SP to Mineral Wells SP. Hike/Bike Trails from Mingus to Gordon/Strawn and to the new State Park. 2026

*Started* Demolition of the old gym to make way for a multi use pavilion.


Completed Projects:

*Completed* Started work on the arena next to the gym to open it up for events. Local residents have taken up cleaning the arena.

*Completed* Water leak detection and notification for customers using our AMI system.

*Completed* Installing STOP signs at several locations around town. The city is working on a comprehensive plan to get signs up where they are needed.

*Completed* SMS reverse 911 system to alert residents

*Completed* Website updates and ADA compliance

*Completed* Electronic billing and bank draft for water accounts. (Credit cards are currently accepted in person via Square or invoice via e-mail or sms.)

*Completed* Automated phone billing information.

*Completed* The City of Mingus acquired 33 acre for park space. Moffit Park


City Hall Remodel:

*Completed* Paint the exterior/interior of City Hall

*Completed* Replace windows

*Completed* New flooring


Water system repairs and upgrades:

*Completed* Isolation water valves installed around town so that when we have an issue we can isolate smaller areas to repair leaks. (CDBG grant funds)

*Completed* Riser pipe installed that will circulate water in the tower. (CDBG grant funds)

*Completed* Final pieces to our wireless meter system installed that will help us isolate issues and provide instant information to the city and its customers. (This system is saving the city and residents money by alerting us of leaks. We have already alerted customers of at least a dozen leaks that saved them money and conserved our water.) (CDBG grant funds)

*Completed* SCADA water system controls. (CDBG grant funds)


City wide projects:

*Completed* The city is working with TNMP to add/replace/repair our street lights. 2 new street lights added on West St and Harrison/Fair Lane. 10 lights have been repaired as of 10/26/2024.

*Completed* New mower purchased via grant money. This will save us money in the long run as we will not have to use our old worn out tractor for mowing.

*Completed* Cleanup of the old gym yard wood pile.

*Completed* Holiday lights installed on the water tower.

*Completed* Halloween in the Park.

*Completed* 2nd Annual Christmas in the park.

*Completed* Investigate Fiber optic networks and better internet for Mingus. (Not feasible due to the extremely high cost of getting fiber to Mingus $400K)


Future Projects:

  • Invest in a Community Center
  • Replace old light fixtures at city hall for energy savings.
  • Generator for City Hall.
  • Paving our last mile of roads.
  • The city will be applying for grants to begin repairs on the old gym and turn it into a community center. Not feasible. Needs to be removed to build a pavilion.
  • Remodel back of City Hall. (Multi phase project, starting with plumbing, electrical, lighting, and HVAC.) The goal is to have more usable space for the city or to lease it for commercial use.
  • Remodel the front porch on City Hall and add an ADA ramp on the side door.
  • Parsons Road water line upgrade and extension. +900′ completed January 2026.
  • Build a fence around the water tower property.
  • Build a barn for our tractor, mower, and city equipment.
  • Move overhead wiring at the park underground.
  • Solar/Battery backup power at the water tower.
  • Invest in the future of Mingus!
